Bernie Eastwood
Business Owner/ Optometrist

Bernie holds a Bachelor of Applied Science – Optometry from the Queensland University of Technology, a Graduate Diploma in Education from Edith Cowan University WA and is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists FACBO.

In the early days of her optometry career, Bernie developed an interest working with children with special needs and with children who experience difficulties with their learning. With this passion learning, Bernie completed a Graduate Diploma in Education at Edith Cowan University in 1996 and began teaching middle and upper primary school children in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

Bernie loves to share her passion with others and educate parents, teachers, health care professionals and the wider community that vision is more than just sight. Her community service talks and workshops engage others in understanding how powerful our vision is and how vital it is in allowing us to interact with and learn from our environment.

Bernie is often followed around the practice by our most popular (and laziest) staff member Daisy the Dog.

Bernie has previously held positions as the Vice President and President of the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists and currently sits as a Director on the Board of Provision Eyecare which promotes Independent Optometry practices in Australia.

Bernie is a member of the Optometrist Association of Australia (OAA), Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists (ACBO), Optometric Extension Programme (OEP) and Provision.
